Meet Escape

With a sporty, versatile design, the 2021 Escape offers the ideal match for every customer. Escape is a stylish, capable vehicle for your on-the-go lifestyles. Underneath the athletic appearance, Escape offers all-wheel drive, two gasoline engine choices, a hybrid powertrain that charges through regenerative braking and a new plug‑in hybrid model with an EPA-estimated rating of 105 MPG. The inside offers flexible cargo space and the advanced technology of standard Ford Co‑Pilot360 to help keep drivers alert and connected while they're enjoying the ride.

Power and Efficiency

Escape offers four powertrain choices engineered to deliver a balance of performance, efficiency and smooth delivery of power. The 1.5L EcoBoost I‑3 engine with cylinder deactivation technology and the proven 2.0L EcoBoost engine are combined with an 8‑speed automatic transmission. Customers can take their Escape to another level with the available Escape Hybrid and Plug‑in Hybrid versions - each featuring the 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I‑4 powertrain with eCVT transmission. Should the adventure lead off the beaten path, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is available with each powertrain. Plug‑in Hybrid models are front-wheel drive (FWD) only.

Room to Move

An available 12.3" digital instrument cluster keeps the driver informed while the available B&O Sound System from Bang & Olufsen delivers optimum audio. The sliding second-row seats allow owners to optimize their interior space. With the seats forward, the rear cargo area sprawls open to 37.5 cubic feet (gas engine models), which allows customers to bring along their favorite pooch in a full-size cage.

Plug-In Hybrid

The 2021 Escape lineup now includes the Plug‑in Hybrid version with an electric motor and 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I‑4 engine mated to an eCVT automatic transmission. This new Escape Plug-in Hybrid has an EPA-estimated range of 37 miles in electric-only mode. When the system runs out of battery charge, it switches seamlessly to the gas engine and the driver simply keeps going. Escape Plug‑in Hybrid is available in SE, SEL and Titanium trim levels, featuring front-wheel drive only and a choice of four drive settings:

Auto EV - able to switch between electric and gas power, depending on the driver's needs

EV Now  - electric only

EV Later - gas power only

EV Charge - uses the gas engine to charge the EV battery while driving

Escape Plug-in Hybrid can be charged in several ways.

PLUG-IN CHARGING OPTIONS

Customers can charge their Escape Plug-in Hybrid at home or at public chargers on the road. Each Plug‑in Hybrid model includes a standard equipped portable charging cord that allows owners to plug into a 120‑volt power source and recharge the battery overnight - or in about 3.3 hours from 0 percent with a 240‑volt power source using an available 240-volt TurboCord.

Commanding Intelligence

Technology highlights include Ford Co‑Pilot360 driver-assist features on all Escape models, plus SYNC 3 with 8" color LCD touchscreen on SE and above. Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, including new Speed Sign Recognition, is included on the Titanium model. Meanwhile,  FordPass Connect with 4G LTE Wi‑Fi hotspot keeps the driver and passengers connected.

Steering Toward Safety

Escape makes a commitment to safe drives with AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control) featuring curve control, plus the standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The commitment continues with wiper-activated headlamps along with Safety Canopy System side-curtain airbag protection on all models. Standard SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System helps maintain security.
