Ford battery service near Scranton

Your car battery is instrumental in starting your car because it sends a current to your motor and ignition system to get the engine going. When the battery dies, your car is not going anywhere. Our Ford service center serving Scranton wants drivers to be prepared in case you are stuck with a dead car.

How to Jumpstart a Car

In order to jumpstart your car's dead battery, you will need another vehicle with a working battery and jumper cables.

1. Before you begin, make sure both cars are placed in "neutral" or in "park" with the ignitions shut off and emergency brakes on.

2. Remove the caps from each car's battery and connect the cables.

3. Attach one of the red clips to a positive terminal on your battery and attach the other red clip to the positive terminal on the other vehicle's battery.

4. Next, attach one of the black clips to the negative terminal on the other car's battery and attach the other black clip to your car on a metal unpainted surface. It cannot be close to your carburetor or battery.

5. Try starting your car. If the car starts, then you are good to go! If you have gone through this procedure and the car is not starting, it may be time for a new battery.
