Don’t Lose Your Grip: Check Your Tires

Car owners know and understand the importance of routine maintenance to make sure their car is safe for their family to ride in. One part that needs to be routinely checked is the car’s tires. Below is some information about tire tread and pressure:

  • Tire Pressure- Tire pressure is important to make sure your car handles properly. If your tires are underinflated they can wear more quickly and unevenly possibly leading to blow outs, reduce fuel economy, and cause the car to have worse handling possibly causing crashes. Overinflated tires while not quite as dangerous as underinflated tires they still cause uneven wear and will need to be replaced sooner.
  • Tire Tread- Tire tread is important because it is what grips the road and helps the car handle better. Tires that show wear are dangerous because they can cause the driver to hydroplane in wet weather, slip on snowy roads, take longer to brake, or possibly blow out due to wear.
