Self-Driving Cars Are Coming Soon, And They're Bringing Pizza

While some have their doubts about the future of autonomous vehicles, Ford knows nothing smooths things over like an oven-fresh pizza.

Domino's Pizza has joined forces with Ford Motor Company to research how real customers will respond to taking deliveries from a self-driving car instead of a delivery person.

"For instance, how will customers react to coming outside to get their food? We need to make sure the interface is clear and simple. We need to understand if a customer's experience is different if the car is parked in the driveway versus next to the curb," said Russell Weiner, president of Domino’s USA. "All of our testing research is focused on our goal to someday make deliveries with self-driving vehicles as seamless and customer-friendly as possible."

It seems that the auto industry isn't the only one not giving up on self-driving vehicles!

Even Jim Hackett, Ford's new CEO, who famously tempered expectations about self-driving cars sounds optimistic that Ford will have a driverless taxi on the road by 2021. Food delivery is an exciting new field for autonomous vehicles.
