Due to our concern for our customers, we have listed as much information as we currently have regarding the Takata Airbag recall.
Information & explanation:
What is the issue?
In certain vehicles, the front driver side air bag inflator housing may rupture & deploy abnormally in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver side frontal airbag. An inflator rupture could result in metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
What will Ford Motor Company do?
Ford Motor Company is working closely with its suppliers to produce parts for this repair. When parts become available for this safety recall (15S21), Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer to have the driver's frontal airbag inflator replaced at no charge to owner. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners.
What should you do?
When parts are available, Ford Motor Company will send a letter to inform you that parts are available and to contact your dealer to schedule a repair free of charge. PLEASE NOTE: Federal Law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.

Is there any cost to the owner of the vehicle? - No, this repair will be fully covered by Ford Motor Company.
When will the parts be available? - At this time Ford Motor Company is working very hard with their suppliers to obtain the replacement parts to repair the affected vehicles. Parts should ship to the high humidity climates in August. Pennsylvania is listed as ZONE B, the second group of states to receive the parts. When parts become available the customer will be notified by Ford Motor Company via mail. The customer can then schedule the repair with their dealer. This repair will be doneat no charge to the customer.
How long does the repair take? - The repair is estimated to take between 2-4 hours.
Does my car have a Takata inflator? - Please refer to the chart above. Ford will also notify all owners of affected vehicles via mail.
When can I get my car repaired? - Ford is repairing the vehicles systematically. The hotter climates will receive parts first therefore being repaired first. Pennsylvania is listed as ZONE B, the second group of states to receive the parts. Ford Motor Company will notify all customers via mail when parts are available. The customer can then schedule the repair with their dealer.
Will a loaner vehicle be provided? - No, Ford Motor Company estimates the repair to only take 2-4 hours. Also, due to the number of vehicles needing repair we are not able to provide loaner vehicles.

Why can't 2013-2014 Mustang vehicles be fixed now? - Repairs for 2013-2014 Mustang vehicles require a different part and repair procedure. Parts and repair instructions for these vehicles are expected to be available in the 4th quarter of 2016.
NOTE: All vehicles that were previously repaired under safety recall 14B09, 14S21 & 15S21 will also require driver airbag inflator replacement, as directed by this safety recall.
